How close is the beach?
The beach boardwalk is located approximately one block from our rental home. Please be aware the boardwalk has a small flight of stairs. Back to Top
How many people can be accommodated in the rental home?
The maximum number of guests our home can comfortably accommodate is six (6) people. The bedding consists of a king sized bed and 4 twin beds. Back to Top
May the home be rented by the night? By the week? By the month?
Our Great Escape may be rented by the night although there is a three night minimum. During the months of June, July, and August we rent by the week only. Some holidays are rented by the week only. During certain times of the year, our home may be rented by the month. Back to Top
Are pets welcome?
While we understand how important your four-legged "children" are, we regret we are NOT able to accommodate them. Several of our guests are highly allergic. We will be happy to provide you with a list of pet-friendly rentals on Seabrook Island. Back to Top
Is smoking allowed in the home?
We have a strict "No Smoking" policy. This includes no smoking inside the home, on the decks, or in the surrounding yard. Back to Top
Do you have a washer and dryer for guests to use?
Yes. We purchased a new high efficiency Whirlpool Duet Sport front load washer and dryer in May 2007 for our guests' use. Back to Top
Does the home have air conditioning?
Yes. Not only do we have a newer air conditioning system (2005), we have also equipped all bedrooms and the living room with ceiling fans. For guests' added comfort, several portable fans are available for use. Back to Top
What kinds of appliances are included in the kitchen?
Our Great Escape is outfitted with all the modern appliances and more. We have a full size refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, and dishwasher. A few of the small appliances stocked in the kitchen include a coffee pot, coffee grinder, toaster, blender, waffle maker, and crockpot. Back to Top
Where can we buy groceries, supplies, and other sundries?
Approximately 4.5 miles from Our Great Escape, you will find Freshfields Village, an upscape retail development. Freshfields is home to Newton Farms grocery store, Vincent's Drug Store, Freshfields Surf Shop, and SeaCoast Sports and Outfitters. Back to Top
How far in advance should we make our reservations?
Guests are encouraged to book their stays as early as possible. We often receive several inquiries for the same dates. If your travel dates are set and our home is unavailable, we'd be happy to refer you to our neighbors. Back to Top
How do we secure our reservations?
In 2008 we started using an online reservation system. Once your travel dates have been decided and availability of Our Great Escape has been confirmed, we will email you the link to your online rental agreement (to view a sample rental agreement, click here). You will have the opportunity to sign the agreement electronically and pay your $250.00 reservation/damage deposit online via PayPal. Guests may also print, sign, and mail via USPS the rental agreement and payment.Back to Top
What forms of payments are accepted?
Rental fees may be paid using personal checks, cashiers checks, or credit cards via PayPal. If your rental is made within 21 days of your vacation commencement date, we request all fees be paid via PayPal. Back to Top
When is payment due?
The $250.00 reservation/damage deposit is due within seven days of requesting a rental agreement; 50% of rental fees are due two months prior to a stay. The remaining 50% is due one month before your check-in day. Back to Top
What is your cancellation policy?
A sixty (60) day written notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date will incur no penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay and/or are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the full advance payment and reservation/damage deposit. Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent or deposit. Monthly renters must cancel one hundred twenty (120) days prior to check-in. Monthly renters who make a change that results in a shortened stay must make the change at least ninety (90) days prior to check-in. Back to Top
Do you have a inclement weather and/or hurricane policy?
Unfortunately, we do not issue refunds or prorate rent due to bad weather. Only in the case of a mandatory evacuation ordered by South Carolina government officials will the rent be prorated and/or refunded or reservations be rescheduled. What times are check-in and check-out?
Guests are welcome to arrive at Our Great Escape any time after 4 p.m. EST. We ask guests to depart no later than 10 a.m. EST as we must get the house ready for the next guests. Back to Top
What amenities are supplied?

Is housekeeping provided?
Included in your rental rate are departure cleaning fees; if you desire additional cleaning services during your visit, you will be charged a rate of $35.00 per hour. Back to Top
Do I need to bring my own beach chairs, umbrellas, and other beach items?
You're on vacation! We keep a supply of beach chairs, umbrellas, and sand toys for our guests' use. To assist in getting your items to the beach, we also provide a beach cart. Back to Top
Is there a grill?
A Weber charcoal kettle grill is available for guests. We do ask you use extreme caution when grilling. Coals should be disposed of properly. Back to Top
Is there internet access in the home?
We are pleased to provide our guests with wireless internet access. Do remember you are on vacation and you should be relaxing. Back to Top
Do you provide access to the Seabrook Island Club?
Beginning January 2009, we regret we are no longer able to provide amenity cards for access to the Seabrook Island Club. We are happy to refer you to rental properties which do have club memberships. Please be aware, you may use the Equestrian Center (trail rides, beach rides, pony rides) without an amenity card. Back to Top
